Bellhouse No. 1

Made of an old quilt tethered from branches and surrounded by objects of labor- shovels, a wheelbarrow, ice scrapers, t-post hammer, water bottles, and others hung and leaned around the tent, each object creating a different sound when rung with a piece of bark, collected from the towering wood pile nearby. Artist is wearing handmade uniform for the entirety of the NC state mandated lockdown. Quiet, methodical labor.

Made during the 2020 COVID-19 lockdown in North Carolina.

Video shown at the Center for Maine Contemporary Art’s [ON]NOW SHELTER exhibit in 2020.

Handmade and mended garments worn during the entirety of the 2020 pandemic lockdown.
